Case study: saving the planet with solar
A community college in Eastbourne has successfully installed solar roof panels
Aims
Primary aim:
Installation of solar rooftop panels throughout the school by the end of the school year
Secondary aim:
10% Reduction in the usage of our schools’ energy consumption
Tasks
Help from friends
- Get school council representatives to look for funding sources
- Ask the Eco-committee to find out how many panels we would need to gain a 10% reduction in energy
Help from adults
- Discuss the action that we can take with Head Teacher
- Contact The Co-operative Group regarding their Green Energy for Schools programme
- Speak to School Council Link teacher bout other funding and getting support
- Speak to local council about whether we need planning permission to install solar panels
Press coverage
Invite the local gazette to the school to take photos of the project

Transport
- Arrange how to transport panels to school
